Rainbow Tipi's having been making tipis now for 14 years,
the last 5 years out of a factory in Byron Bay.
The formative years out of an old timber mill, deep in the
forest in Rosebank, in the Byron Hinterlands. In those days
the business was known as Reeveer Tipis. It was here at Reeveer
park in Rosebank, where Ray Brown (that's me) an avid Tipi
dweller, became attuned to the ways in which a Tipi relates
to the environment. |

| The
Tipi promotes an intimate relationship between the dweller
and the environment. You learn to make slight adjustments
to increase or decrease air flow, to alter the smoke flap
direction, to allow for wind change. You become inherently
aware of the slight changes in the weather and the Tipi becomes
your friend. Making the most of the weather's good qualities
and protecting you from it's worst. |

A
dripper system was developed to redirect water running into
the Tipi from the poles of the Tipi into the rainsheet.
These drippers are supplied with all of Rainbow Tipi's Tipis.
Windows were developed to increase lighting in the Tipi,
made from denser/darker materials for overcast rainy days.
Flyscreen was introduced for increased ventilation and protection
from insects.
One of the most practical development was the side awnings
where heavy duty annex 3ply was sewn into the sides of the
Tipis so that an awning was created with ease and great
effect.
All these attributes are created in the Tipi without taking
away from the simple and beautiful appeal that the Tipi
has always held. These features make the Tipi more comfortable
and user friendly in a wider range of climates and natural
environments maximizing lighting, ventilation, and weatherfast
qualities.

Rainbow
