Tipi
Skin Care & Maintenance
The
standard materials used for our Tipi's is either, 8 Oz,
12 Oz or 60/40 Poly Cotton water and mildew resistant at
the factory. This fabric is durable, tuff and resists wear
from abrasion and U.V light. It is also available in a range
of colours and different combinations.
The acrylic fabric is a French Material that has a polymer
Resin Coating making it 100% waterproof unlike Australian
acrylics it is fast drying and mould spores cannot affect
its structural integrity. The manufacturers offer a 10 year
guarantee on breakdown from environmental conditions. Being
lightweight yet durable French Acrylic is a deluxe choice
in materials. Extra care is taken to reinforce the base
of Tipi's made in this fabric.
All stress areas are double or triple reinforced paying
particular attention to the tie down points, lace pin, panel,
smoke flaps and door area. The reinforcing is also artfully
designed to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the
tipi.
Maintenance:
For care of your Tipi's fabric it is recommended you pay
particular attention to mould spores settling on your tipi
if you live in humid conditions. These spores attach themselves
to organic compounds that build up on your canvas. Such
as, dust, bird droppings and tree sap. If unattended to
these spores then spread and work themselves into the fabric
reducing the structural integrity of the fibers.
Regular washing with a mild soap or detergent, in more extreme
cases Oxygen Bleach such as Napisan will remove the mould
spores with ease and protect the life span of your Tipi.
You will find that the most vulnerable side of your Tipi
will be the south west side which receives less sun, it
stays moist helping assit the mould spores germinating.
Usually the bottom 3 or 4 feet of the Tipi is the most vulnerable,
brush down with a sponge or soft brush using water. Once
a week in the most mould prone times of the year (hot humid
weather) will be enough to keep your Tipi in good condition
and it's life span intact. Grass and woods should be kept
clear of the Tipi hem as constant sources of moisture and
organic materials promote mildew growth.
Maintaining your tipi is not as hard as it sounds. |
